Jeev Seva Samiti is more than just an organization; it's a movement dedicated to building a better world.

ABOUT

Jeev Seva Samiti is a passionate and dynamic non-governmental organization founded in February 2013 by Shri Dev Singh Negi, a man driven by humanity. Originally named Neer Foundation, the organization was rebranded as Jeev Seva Samiti in 2022. Shri Dev Singh Negi, the creator and founder of Neer Foundation, began his mission with the motto “Serve to Alive,” symbolizing the enduring impact and legacy of a person who remains with others, even at their last moments.

In the year 2021-2022, there were 12 cows in the gaushala, where all their basic needs, such as shelter and food, were provided by Neer Foundation. As the organization evolved and expanded its vision, Jeev Seva Samiti was established with a deep commitment to preserving the environment and ensuring the well-being of future generations. Over time, it has grown into a multifaceted organization dedicated to addressing a range of vital issues, including environmental preservation, child welfare, animal care, and the revitalization of traditional agricultural practices.

Our Founder's Vision

Dev Singh Negi, the visionary behind Jeev Seva Samiti, recognized early on the urgent need to protect our natural environment. He understood that without a concerted effort to conserve our natural resources, future generations would face immense challenges. This realization drove him to establish Jeev Seva Samiti, a platform through which he could mobilize like-minded individuals and communities to take action. His belief in the power of collective effort is the driving force behind our organization’s numerous initiatives.

Our Core Areas of Focus

Environmental Conservation

Since the beginning, Jeev Seva Samiti has focused on protecting and restoring our natural surroundings. We have organized large tree-planting drives in several remote villages of Uttarakhand, such as Neer, Kyarki, Kakhoor, and Pungarh. So far, we have successfully planted over 10,000 trees, including various Ayurvedic plants. These plants not only help the environment but also improve the health and well-being of local communities. Our efforts aim to make a lasting difference, ensuring that Uttarakhand’s natural beauty and resources are preserved for future generations.

Children's Welfare

Education is the cornerstone of a brighter future, and at Jeev Seva Samiti, we are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their socio-economic background, has access to quality education. We run regular drives to distribute essential educational materials such as books, uniforms, and stationery to children in need. Our scholarship programs are designed to motivate and support these children, enabling them to pursue their studies without the burden of financial constraints. By investing in their education, we are helping to shape the future leaders of our society.

Animal Welfare

Our concern for the welfare of all living beings extends to the animals who share our world. In recent years, we have expanded our focus to include animal protection. The establishment of the Gainee Gulab Gaushala in pungarh is a testament to our commitment to animal welfare. This sanctuary provides a safe haven for stray cows, where they are cared for, nurtured, and protected. We believe that every animal deserves a life free from suffering, and we are dedicated to making this a reality through our ongoing efforts.

Promoting Traditional Agriculture and Ayurvedic plants:

In a world increasingly dominated by modern agricultural practices, Jeev Seva Samiti recognizes the importance of preserving traditional farming techniques that have sustained communities for centuries. We actively work to raise awareness about the value of traditional agriculture, particularly in the cultivation of Ayurvedic plants. Our programs are designed to educate farmers and villagers about these practices and to provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to implement them effectively. By doing so, we help ensure the sustainability of agriculture in these regions while preserving the cultural heritage that is deeply intertwined with traditional farming methods.

Our Impact

Jeev Seva Samiti, founded under the Society Registration Act in 2013, envisions building gaushalas for homeless and uneconomic cows. The organization seeks sustainable solutions to the long-term problems facing cows. Currently, 35 cows are sheltered in the gaushala. Since our establishment, Jeev Seva Samiti has positively impacted thousands of lives across Uttarakhand. Our tree-planting campaigns contribute to reforestation and climate change mitigation, while our educational programs empower children with the resources they need to succeed. We also focus on animal welfare, especially protecting and nurturing cows, which hold deep spiritual and cultural significance in Hinduism. Through shelters like Gainee Gulab Gaushala, we ensure that stray cows receive the care they deserve. Additionally, our efforts to promote traditional agriculture help preserve Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage for future generations.

Jeev seva samiti enters into its ten year with a remarkable confidence with sharp clarify on approach and improvement of knowledge.

Gainee Gulab Gaushala

The journey began in 2013 during a vacation when we found cows helplessly stranded on the roadside without food and water. We noticed they were eating plastic, which made them sick, and many eventually died—a truly pathetic situation. Some also died due to accidents with high-speed vehicles on highways and in cities. In response, we started feeding them grass and sheltering two cows in my own village.

The gaushala, with a proper shed, was eventually established in 2022 and is situated in the lap of the mountains near a river in the village of Daigala, part of the Tehri Garhwal district. This village is located 30 km from the holy city of Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. Shri Dev Singh Negi, the creator and founder of Jeev Seva Samiti, established this initiative with the motto “Serve to Alive.” This reflects the image and legacy of a person who remains with others, even at their last moments.

Now at present, there are 35 cows in the gaushala, where all their basic needs, such as shelter, food, and medicine, are provided by Jeev Seva Samiti.

Our Vision for the Future

As we look to the future, Jeev Seva Samiti remains constant in its commitment to creating a world where environmental conservation, child welfare, and animal protection are not just ideals but realities. Jeev Seva Samiti enters its tenth year with remarkable confidence, having sharpened its approach and deepened its knowledge. Over the last decade, Jeev Seva Samiti has established itself as an organization that creates a platform and understanding for this marginalized and voiceless section of society.

We envision a society where every individual is aware of their responsibility to protect the environment and where traditional agricultural practices are valued and preserved. We are dedicated to expanding our reach, increasing our impact, and continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.
